NanoArt (7)
This gallery contains artwork created specifically for NanoArt Competitions. In these competitions, pioneered by Los Angeles scientist/artist Cris Orfescu, you are given a monochrome electron microscope image and each artist then turns it into one or more artworks and returns them to the NanoArt website. The artist retains copyright of their image and is free to sell it (hence this gallery!).
In the first competition (2006) each artist was given a seed image and then used their imagination to create other images starting from the original - up to 5 could be entered in the competition; Voting was from Jan 1 to March 31, 2007 and I was one of the 10 winners.
I am also displaying 3 of these images in Kotka, Finland during May along with the curator, Cris Orfescu and some of the other nano-artists in 'The 1st International Festival of NanoArt - Finland 2007'.
As with all my multi-images my nano-artworks are heavily layered so that you can get lost in the image, staring into it and gradually allowing it to reveal more....
One of these images, "Nano-Cyclops V" has been selected for interpretation as a floral design at the West Australian Floral Art Society's "Art Fusion" section of their exhibition for their 55th birthday celebrations. I can't wait to see what the floral artist comes up with!
